Redesigning the job applicant experience


With an aggressive pace of hiring underway, Exelixis wanted to optimize its careers site to increase visitor understanding of the company’s culture and ease the path to application. Exelixis reached out to Waterhouse Brands (Waterhouse) to assess and enhance the prospective employee experience.

How We Helped

Beginning with a UI/UX analysis of the current Exelixis careers site, Waterhouse identified areas of visitor drop-off, inconsistent calls-to-action, and confusing navigational pathways. Waterhouse defined and executed a plan of action that simplified the careers experience, increased the prominence of key cultural messaging, and artfully implemented the company’s expanded visual identity system as well as photography showcasing the new corporate headquarters. The new design incorporated a Waterhouse-produced video that showcases the company’s promise for patients and increases the prominence of the resume submission tool by moving it to a dedicated page.

After launching the new careers site, Exelixis is receiving an average of 16.5 resume submissions per day.
